Description
Thinking of spring and inspired by a Rumi quote:
We began as mineral. We emerged into plant life, and into the animal state, and then into being human, and always we have forgotten our former states, except in early spring when we slightly recall being green again.
which in turn was used as a writing prompt which inspired these words:
I fall to pieces
Forgetting the parts of who I was
Shedding skin
Stripped to the core
Bones clatter to the floor
Nothing to hold it all together
The ghost of me sees the thread
The thread that had become unravelled
It had been attached to the transient things
And the dust could no longer hold it
Frayed from too long grasping
at rough surfaces with no substance
Then core of me, burned out
and weighed down by gravity
Explodes as a star
Transforming the elements
And now
With the whole world of me scattered
Becoming one with the dust that broke me
A breeze from the East
Raises pieces of me into the air
I am a whirlwind of thoughts
The heavy ones falling back down to the ground
Lighter ones reaching for the sky
The threads of me weaving in-between
Finding strength in the knots
The threads, through some kind of cosmic alchemy
Transformed, evolved
Each piece knowing
What it once was
Yet embracing what it will become
Weaving new bones, new muscles,
organs and skin
Built from the transmuted gold,
into even more rarer stuff.
I stand once more.
Ready to face the next cycle
Of my evolution.
