Description
Day 4 of the 1 Year Challenge. Journal entry about the first bird sighting of the year. I heard once that it can set the tone for the rest of the year. The last few years I have seen some kind of tiny perching, fast flitting bird that I can never get a good look at. I am guessing it's a wren, but I am really not sure.

Brilliant work Katherine, true spirit of a journal. At this time of year I know I can see Goldcrests along my regular exercise haunts, as they arrive in Britain to overwinter before returning to the magnificence of Scandinavia. My video photographs show tiny specks flitting around the bare bushes, which causes family teasing. I tried still snapshots but just got loads of closeups of twigs!
